Jessica Walsh is a founder of &Walsh a creative agency based in NYC. Walsh and her team are specialised in Branding & Advertising and within this much more.

Some general information about &Walsh is that it only exists for only a year and is part of the 1% creative agencies founded by woman. &Walsh wants to change leadership gab in this industry. And it has 20+ employees and works with freelancers from all over the world.

WHAT DO I SEE IN THIS PROJECT FROM THE PRACTICES
From everything that I've learned during the practises (autonomous & social) this is a great example of autonomous and social combined.

Every composition has been composed by someone with this specific style that could be the autonomous part and it has been self-published. The messages inside the composed composition like the text that triggers a certain reaction could be the social part.

Their way of thinking, for good conceptual work is something that people come to &Walsh for.
THE PROJECT
With this project they created an on going photo series of current happenings in the news that they tackle and create a concept for and produce via photographs in a funny and affective way. These photographs they post on a social media platform 'Instagram'. This is a way of self-promotion, creating new content and to spread their way of thinking and messages that for &Walsh is important.

All of the photographs are taken by an employee of &Walsh, Sarah Hopp. Most of the time including in these series is Jessica Walsh the person on the photo since she is the face of the company.

The function of these series is to create awareness that &Walsh is good in what they do best.

The audience for these posts are mainly : regular followers, designers, photographers, clients and potential clients of &Walsh. (510k followers)

ABOUT
Timo Kuilder a.k.a @zwartekoffie is an illustrator / visual artist based in Amsterdam. And has been a freelancer for 12 years and has build a very impressive client list : Firefox, The New York Times, Monocle, Bloomberg, Brummell, Twitter, Facebook, Adobe, TED, Expo and WeTransfer.

THE PROJECT
With this project he worked for 'De Bijenkorf', a Dutch department store with multiple big stores throughout the entire country of the Netherlands.

The client (De Bijenkorf) wanted to create something special for their window- , inside- decoration of the stores to celebrate the 150 years of existence of De Bijenkorf in a special way. The window decorations is also a fine way to get people inside of the store.

The audience is everyone that shops at this department store, and that has the money to
spend on relative expensive brand clothing,
shoes, jewellery, bags, luxury etc..

As a collaboration since Timo Kuilder is the illustrator there was an entire team behind him to realise it from digital to real life. From the once that I could find : Willemijn de Wit, Marieke Lucassen, Els den Dekker, Emile Pen and possible others.

On the right side you can see the illustrations that er converted to products, window decorations and just flat illustrations. In real life there are even moving elements in the window decorations.
WHAT DO I SEE IN THIS PROJECT FROM THE PRACTICES
From everything that I've learned during the practises (autonomous & social) this is more leaning towards the autonomous practise rather then towards social.

This is because Timo his work is already a certain style on its own and potential clients come to him for his specific style.

The only difference with his work versus being fully autonomous is that he works for the client instead of that the client is just buying an already made piece of his.
All the information about Timo Kuilder was quite hard to find, please be aware that the information could not be accurate and that this is only a perception of me, Romi.

ABOUT
Lina Tesch is a fashion and beauty photographer based in Berlin and Hamburg. She has worked with the following clients : Calzedonia, Kerastase, Intimissimi, Babor, Universal, Superga, Alpha industries, Levi's, Swarovski, Dior, Pandora, Douglas, Gilette, Puma and more.
THE PROJECT
With this project she has created a series of photographs for 'Galeries Lafayette Berlin', an platform that shows and writes about fashion, beauty and delicacies.

She didn't created this series of photographs alone, she had an entire team beside her as collaboration : Styling by Sarah Sharon Karsten, Production by Nik Yessih, Make up by Ina Carla Cierniak. This serie is are not just photographs they tell a story. What the story is I can only guess by looking and analysing it.

Of what I can see these photographs are meant to give a certain feeling and vibe maybe an inspiration, and within that certain feeling show the clothing and accessories that you can buy at 'Galeries Lafayette Berlin'.

The audience are people that like to read and that adores fashion.

SIDENOTE
All the information about Lina Tesch was quite hard to find, please be aware that the information could not be accurate and that this is only a perception of me, Romi.
From everything that I've learned during the practises (autonomous & social) this is most leaning towards commercial, and even tho I haven't have experienced that practise I did got a sense of it by talking to my fellow class mates.

I think this is most leaning towards commercial because of the use of a photograph to show fashion items in a nice way to ultimately sell the items.

I have chosen Timo Kuilder not because I like his work the most out of the three artist, but more because I am really intrigued in the way how his work became so authentic on its own that people come to him for his personal style. This is something I would like to achieve while working as a Graphic Designer. Personally this would be the ultimate goal because this will separates you from all the other Graphic Designers out there. Timo Kuilder is specialised in illustration and that is something that you create nevertheless your own style in, for Graphic Design not that quickly.

In my reflections from the practises I talked about that I didn't feel that connected to autonomous as I did with social, that is because I really like to communicate with clients and have that contact with them and create solutions by using Graphic Design for them. Timo is in a place where he combines autonomous with commercial and I would say that that is the best place to be in as a Designer. A place that you can not be replaced in.

Timo Kuilder is a Dutch illustrator / visual artist based in Amsterdam. And has been a freelancer for 12 years. His work is very minimalistic and the figures in his work have a very fluid way of working inside the composition. Also he has a way of working with bright colours and throughout his work he temps to work with the same colours.

The difference between the project that I've chosen for 'De Bijenkorf' that he did and his personal portfolio work is that the work for 'De Bijenkorf' is more complicated than the minimalistic work that he does. You can see that his style has converted to the needs of the client, but the quality still remains.
